Woman’s Home is Surrounded By 100 Raccoons, and They Aren’t Leaving Anytime Soon

raccoons surround woman's house

A woman found her house surrounded by 100 raccoons, and it's obvious that the little critters have no plans to leave anytime soon.

Most people are perfectly hospitable and willing to let friends and family stay at their place. However, even the most generous person has their limit. They will reach a point where they say, "No more" to themselves and maybe even to their guests. That's when it's time for those houseguests to find someplace else to rest their heads.

Woman in Washington State Finds Raccoons Swarming Her Property

According to People, one woman in Washington has reached her limit with a group of wild critters. This happened after she found approximately 100 raccoons on her property in early October. However, instead of getting the hint that they obviously aren't wanted any longer, they seem determined to extend their stay.

So, how did the woman find nearly 100 raccoons surrounding her house? Local Denver television station KUSA reports that the woman, whose name has not been released, started feeding the wild animals more than three decades ago.

The woman's generosity toward the critters was never a problem for years. However, that all changed quickly when the population of raccoons in the area experienced rapid growth, according to KING 5, a Seattle TV station. Apparently, word of the woman's generosity quickly spread among the raccoons.

The Hungry Critters Remained Day and Night Hoping to Receive Some Food

The outlets report that the hungry creatures surround her house around the clock – day and night -hoping for a free meal. It has gotten so bad that, at one point, she could not enter her house because of the incredible number of raccoons.

Members of law enforcement who were called in to help shoo away the creatures were amazed by what they saw. A Kitsap County Sheriff's Office spokesperson captured that bewilderment in a statement.

"They had never seen that many raccoons in one place. Nobody ever remembers being surrounded by a swarm of raccoons. This was a first."

A solution to the raccoon problem has yet to be determined. However, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is now on the case.
