Now 64 years old, John Schneider appeared on Huckabee earlier this month and sang the theme song from the show that began his extraordinary career as an actor, musician, director, and producer. In a segment called ‘Hukebee's Jukebox,' John played the guitar and sang ‘Good Ol' Boys,' written and performed for the show by Waylon Jennings.

Joined by two backup singers and six other instrumentalists, John, as well as Mike Huckabee's audience, had a ball with the song! Mr. Schneider invited audience members to sing along because he knew they know the tune. And he called out for band members to ‘play some country music back there.' The former Governor of Arkansas played a guitar solo, and the pianist followed suit.

With a large image of the burnt orange 1969 Dodge Charger (better known as the ‘General Lee') behind him, John laughed out loud several times and, at 1:40, he tweaked the chorus of the song, singing:

‘I'm a good ol' boy

I wouldn't change if I could

I'm still fighting the system

Like a true modern-day Robin Hood'

After the final note, John thanked the ‘folks,' told them he appreciated their applause, and said "God bless you" a couple of times.

Bo and Luke Duke weren't dangerous or mean-spirited; they were just always up to shenanigans. And as likable and down-to-earth as John Schneider seems to be in this video, it's easy to believe that he, too, is just a good ol' boy!

"Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good." Psalm 25:7
